Aknvas S/S 25

AKNVAS presented their S/S 25 collection for NYFW titled “Nordic Midsummer Camp”, revolving around the nostalgic and playful feeling of a Nordic summer, which is a story told in three parts: Urban Scout, Monochromatic Flower Fields, and Radiant Dew. According to Danish founder, Christian Juul Nielsen, he wanted to combine “the notion of youthful exploration and nature’s serene beauty.”

This collection mainly features canvas workwear, see-through fabrics, and floral appliques in an innovative and wearable way. The show started with a few denim-on-denim and pin-striped pieces that were very structured, such as Look 3 with a mini peplum denim dress with flowers draped and sewn on and Look 8 with a pin-striped button-down shirt with floral appliques. Christian incorporated sculptural silhouettes into his pieces, while still keeping them refined and on the Nordic summer theme.

See-through has grown in popularity over the last few years, and it appeared a lot on the AKNVAS runway whether it was delicate lace or eyelet, shown in soft pastels, like beige and lavender along with dark, bold colors, like cherry red and sapphire blue. This collection showcased various styles, like flowy maxi dresses, long-sleeve shirts, and micro shorts which were elegant or had a streetwear aesthetic.

This collection also marked the debut of AKNVAS’ handbag collection, which are feminine and versatile for their target audience. The mini bags were shown in various shades, like neutrals, pastels, and bold colors which will be avaliable to the public this upcoming spring. On the runway, these bags blended seamlessly with the outfits, such as Look 26 featuring a blue lace cropped top and pants styled with a pistachio green belt and mini bag.

Additionally, AKNVAS’ partnership with Stuart Weitzman contributed to this collection in regards to the womens footwear. According to Christian, he wanted to work with Weitzman because their craftmanship aligns with the AKNVAS vision: creating luxury clothes and footwear that empower women. The female models for this collection were seen walking the runway with black moto boots in different lengths, like calf or knee-high.

Overall, AKNVAS’ Spring/Summer 2025 was refreshing from incorporating the latest fashion trends into their collection while staying true to their brand identity. I look forward to what they will create for future collections!
