Hello All,

Day 2 was epic. I really enjoyed getting into fashion shows just being around fashion-minded people. I think what I realized it’s not about how many followers I have. As an influencer whether your A to D list status, your content throughout the fashion shows is imperative. Being at a fashion show is one thing. Actually getting the coverage for the show is ideally what an influencer needs to get while at the show. I’ve seen people sitting in the front row just sitting in the front row. I’ve talked to many people who actually work during the fashion shows. They’ve all said the same thing, the attendees that sit in the front row or that are attending these fashion shows. Are not promoting the designers brand.

What do you mean?

When you get into these fashion shows, my first thing is to find the hashtag associated with the designer. Most of the time you see attendees not using the hashtag of the designer. They are all taking selfies…hey look at me I’m at “Ruby Fang Fashion Show”. This is bad for the designer because they need all the promotion from the attendees that come to their fashion show.

How many people come to the show?

At least 1,000 attendees are attending these shows.  Out of 1,000 attendees at least 100 attendees are actually working during the fashion show. Honestly, this is a bad disappoint for NYFW and the designer. NYFW to me is a job. I’m being a reporter for my blog and getting the content to promote the designers’ brand. I don’t go to shows to go to shows. I promote for the fashion designers, Who else will promote for the designer. During the shows, I’m getting photos and video content that I can use to post on my social media platform. After the show is over, I look back at my coverage. I see the garments and the collection for what it is. Sitting in the front row is a privilege, my sole purpose is to get the best coverage by showcasing the designer collection.

NYFW has changed?

When I first attending NYFW back in 2014, it was so different. I could attend shows easily, sit in a seat or sit in the front row. NYFW was more organized and pr companies were searching for attendees with the best quality of work. For this year, I sent at least 100 pitch letters expressing my desire to attend any fashion shows during fashion week. Guess how many invites I receive at least 10 invites. All the work, I put in is not valued. I actually have worked hard in providing reviews from the shows. Sending my coverage links to PR companies. It honestly doesn’t even matter. Let’s say you get invited to attend Chromat Fashion show. You get to the venue get your ticket and it’s a standing ticket.

And how many people have standing tickets at least 500 attendees?

There’s no way all those attendees standing outside are going to get into the show. And sure enough, the designer overbooked the show. Attendees storm off mad and confused, Why send an invite and tell attendees they can get into the show. It makes you not want to attend these shows. They’re not looking at what attendees who will promote their brand. Nonetheless, the designer wants to fill the venue space which is more important than attendees quality of work.

Will I attend NYFW in February?

Yes, I’ll be ready. This is my honest opinion what I observed during fashion week. I think next year I’ll explore, shop, and go to presentations for smaller brands. I’ll enjoy fashion week instead of worrying about what fashion shows I’ll be attending.

Day 1: NYFW

Photographer: Mauricio Jorquera
What I Wore:
Kendall & Kylie: Fanny Pack
SugarFix baublebar: Earrings
As you all know I love NYFW. I was missing it from last year. Day 1 was on point. I’m not going to lie. When I first arrived in New York, I was super bummed.  My Airbnb host flaked on me and honestly it’s never happened to me. The host gave me check-in instructions to get into the apartment, I tried calling the host several times and I got no response. I was so nervous. Luckily, I called Airbnb they credited me to get another place in the same area that was way better. All-in-all everything worked out! I went to my first show Indonesia Diversity the collection was unique with flowly and eccentric garments. As the name says it all it was a diverse collection.

Then later that day, I went to do video shoot with NY videographer Mauricio Jorquera it was a really planned out video shoot. We went around NY and came across some other bloggers from Atlanta. We did a little collaboration with which was a spur of the moment kind of thing. I can’t wait till the video comes out.

Second fashion show I went Athanasiou was very lively with fun patterns. In the collection there was a lot of jackets, funky prints, and separates that I love you can’t go wrong with a good ole statement pieces. That necessarily can be paired with a day or night look. I could definitely wear some pieces from the collection. Overall the first day of NYFW was epic I’m glad I came this year.
Enjoy the photos!

WHAT I WORE:
WHO WHAT WEAR: Shirt & Dress
Zara: Shoes
Forever21: Jacket & Purse
San Francisco is the best place to relax. On Day 1, I was able to go during memorial weekend to explore, shop, and entertain through my time at San Francisco. In May surprisingly the weather is cool. I was smart no matter where I go I’m packing to accommodate the weather. It was such a nice time with my cousins just eating, exploring, and talking about life. Can’t beat time spent with family. I went to union square to shoot with my new found friend photographer Bryanna, I was able to walk around find spots that compliment my look. I wore my shirt and dress from WHO WHAT WEAR such a matchy matchy look. The shoes from Zara that pair well to my look. Love how my shoes match my dress. Regardless it was such a good shoot!

LUSH FASHION LOUNGE X FITSONME….

Who doesn’t love brands you can feel comfortable in. I love lush fashion lounge an online boutique that caters to women that want affordable apparel. But yet they can look chic, cool, and sophisticated.

I love the lush fashion lounge I’m allabout comfort finding items that I can still look comfortable and cute. During the cold weather, I don’t want to bundle to much. I found this coat that has furry material in the inside. Believe me it keeps me super warm. I decide to pair it with my Who wear boots for a pop of color.

WHAT I WORE:
Akira: Jumpsuit
H&M: Shoes
Ross: Sarong
Hawaii is the ultimate vacation place to relax….key word relax!! I seriously love the air was so cool and refreshing. People in Hawaii are so laid back they take their time. Let’s say, they have an appointment at 5pm it’s more like they arrive exactly at 6pm. They call it here I’m on “Hawaii Time”. I think spending time with family was the highlight of my trip. Especially you live your life and how as a youth to an adult you’ve completely changed. It’s so different I like seeing how my family has grown definitely my cousins. Wishing we had more time to spend with them!
I really need to make more time to go on vacations,I think this was the best vacation yet. I want to take more time to explore different countries. I think my next stop is Paris!
For my look, I received this jumpsuit from Akira. It’s flowy with it’s light fabric makes it the perfect jumpsuit for Hawaii. I like akira clothing they have a wide selection of women apparel. By looking on the website you can pick that best item that works for you and your body type. I paired it with a sarong it totally compliments my red look. If you don’t have a sarong you definitely need to get one now!!!
